About the Festival

A free, family-friendly event held outside on E. Hickory and Industrial Street.

A Multi-Cultural Event in Denton, TX

Our festival is an inclusive and family focused event that takes place on E. Hickory, E. Oak and Industrial streets. Festival goers can enjoy great food & drink, arts & crafts, and live music and dance, along with unique events like the Pine Box Races,  Coffin Races,  a Twilight Lantern Parade,  a community altar and a “Flight of Souls,” the “Cirque du Horror Musical,” a Pumpkin Patch and Costume Contest, story telling and performances from Denton ISD schools.

Come Join the Fun

Peruse the pumpkin patch, play games and activities for all ages,  dance alongside street performers, and pick up a souvenir at the vendor booths featuring local art, crafts, and food. Cheer on your favorite team during the famous coffin races, and stick around for our lantern-lit twilight parade. But whatever you do, don’t miss your chance to see Denton’s very own Halloween musical, Cirque du Horror!

Denton’s Day of the Dead Festival is planned and presented by 13 volunteer committee chairmen and women. One the weekend of the festival, more than 100 volunteers help stage the event. This fantastic fall street party is brought to you by passionate, creative individuals with a vision to enrich fall in Denton.
